Local News
18th St. Bar and Grill—— Closed

Another local business seems to have gone down in Bakersfield. 18th St Bar and Grill. Although it seemed to get mixed reviews, it’s unfortunate to see a downtown and local business go down. Especially one that hosted live music. I went a few times with my in-laws and enjoyed myself. Cold beer and good food.
Remembering the past. July 21st, 1952.
Bakersfield History

On the morning of July 21st, 1952, Bakersfield residents were getting some sleep. Unbeknownst to them, they were on the verge of a behemoth 7.3 magnitude earthquake! At 4:52am, one of the largest recorded earthquakes in California history occurred in our city. Literally tied for 3rd. Imagine how scary that must have been. The earthquake caused 12 deaths, and lead to all of California mandating tougher construction codes incase something like this happened again. 1000 buildings were damaged and 90 were completely torn down.
Fun fact: a few months later in August we got hit a 5.8 magnitude earthquake as well, so the aftershocks were said to be felt for MONTHS.
The impact of this earthquake is felt all the way through today. As a result of this earthquake, Bakersfield leaders tore down some historical buildings. Imagine how different Bakersfield would look with some classic and older business still operating and having its history going to this day? What an absolute loss.

Tacos Los Primos
Local Business Spotlight

Los Primos is located on 2517 Niles St

This food truck has been around the east side for YEARS. I’ve been going here for at least 7 years on and off, but the food has always been delicious. I wish I would have gotten pictures of my food, but I destroyed it lol If you’re ever in the mood for tacos, tortes, burritos and that type of vibe, this is a unique food truck They even have a c-train container not he said you can go sit inside!
That’s it for this week.
Another issue down! I had to speed run this one as well, but made the most of it.
