The Bakersfield Guy's Newsletter! Issue #4!

Onto issue #4 already. We've crossed 100 subscribers for the newsletter already. Thank you guys. It took about 2 weeks to get to that milestone, so I'm excited to see what the future holds! Thank you to everyone and anyone who has been sharing this newsletter to someone directly or onto their own socials. That's the only way we'll continue to grow. I have so many ideas, I can't wait to show you guys. ------Unfortunately, this week and next I'm working a ton of overtime. This issue will be shorter. Bare with me this week and next week. After that I should be working my normal hours.

Local Business Spotlight

Honey I’m Home

Honey I’m Home located at 3807 Auburn St.

I recently did a short review on this local Eastside Bakersfield business. My wife and I went for the first time, and it was so good! Our server was attentive and kind, and more importantly our food was delicious. Here’s a link to the short video review I made. I plan on making these more detailed and immersive in the future to paint better pictures, but being I’m on a time crunch, here’s that for now. PS I love seeing the Eastside get good businesses like this. We get forgotten too often.

Local Creator of the Week

This week I’m featuring a new podcast from a local so this is a first type of feature! I asked them to give me a summary describing the podcast and this is what they drew up! Check out the IG page to see more and stay connected

A fictional podcast disguised as a late-night call-in show, WKGF Presents: The Witching Hour premieres August 29

This August, listeners are invited to step back in time, and into the unknown, with The Witching Hour, a new scripted podcast that blends the nostalgic charm of 1980s radio shows with spooky tales of the bizarre or supernatural.

Set in 1989 and presented as if it were a real late-night broadcast, The Witching Hour follows fictional rock "n roll DJ Max Thorn as he fields "live" calls from listeners with strange and often chilling stories to tell. From lost time and ghost sightings to urban legends, aliens, and conspiracies, the show invites audiences into a rich and immersive world where you never know what the next call could be, or if the dial will slip and tell the "real story."

Created, produced, and set in Bakersfield, CA, The Witching Hour mixes the analog fun of late-80s radio (complete with period-accurate sound design, cheesy 80's commercials and movie trailers) with short 1950's-style radio dramas, to form a growing web of serialized mystery that builds with each episode.

WKGF Presents: The Witching Hour debuts on August 29th and is available on all major podcast platforms - just search WKGF!
