The Bakersfield Guy's Newsletter! Issue #10
Issue #10?? I really wanted to make this a big, special issue but I'm working a lot of overtime this week so I just didn't have the time. I'm going to have to save it for another issue. Thanks for understanding guys!
The Bakersfield Guy Newsletter Issue #10
Hey guys! I just wanted to give you guys another thank you. We’ve reached issue #10 already, and it feels like it happened so quick. I’ve been thinking about something like this newsletter for YEARS, and I finally figured a weekly newsletter would be a great starting point. The socials to go along with it also continue to grow. Thank you guys so much. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! I have so many ideas. I can’t wait to roll them out little by little.
Local Business Spotlight
Rollerama— 1004 34th St.

I recently went back to a place that a lot of us have childhood memories to take my own daughter, and we had an absolute BLAST.
Rollerama on 34th St. opened its doors in 1957. In 1961 the Kerwin family bought the business, and eventually expanded with the 2nd location on Brimhall. I’ll have to go check out the newer location one of these days.
Imagine how many of your family members have memories at the 34th st. location? The location is on the rougher side of town, but as long as you can get around the area and building being a bit rough, the location was a blast. They have a great snack bar, and my family and I had a blast. Give Rollerama a visit if you want something unique to do in town.

Remembering the past. Chester and downtown area through the years
Bakersfield History
I ran out of time this week for a full history piece unfortunately. Working overtime again this week. This has become my favorite section to work on, but thank you again to my friend from reddit /CartographerLess3945. I grabbed these photos from him. He does some great history posts on reddit and also some on railroads and trains. Thank you Carto.
